Who would have thought being this far north would be as hot and steamy as living in Jacksonville, Fl. Well I am here to tell you it is. Would not be so bad if we had more wind movement. But I am blocked by a tree line. I can go to my brothers and woooooo he gets the wind. he has no trees blocking it.

The one thing that I have recently come to discover living in the country has a whole new set of adventures. One is the lighting bugs. That is something you do not see in the city. Once in a while you will see moths and butterflies but not like here. The down side is we have nasty huge wasps......they sneak in and I have become very good with a fly swatter. The other thing we have to fight is little field mice....I took care of that problem quickly. No uninvited guests are allowed to be here. The other thing is a massive lot of spiders. Them i can handle..

The other thing I enjoy watching is the wild bunnies. I have tons and tons of them. my yard is really good at growing clover. Even after it is mowed the next day it is back. So they come up behind the trailer and feed. Would love to get pic of them but they are to fast. Had 3 in the driveway the other day and had to sit there until they moved out of the way so I could go. I occasionally see one of the barn cats. Not to often though..they help with keeping the mice at bay. Because of all the wild birds hearing my parrots I have a ton of them hanging around. Including the little sparrow I released. He/it comes back everyday to check in with me. So cute.

I never knew garter snakes grew so huge.....was cleaning out the little seeding grow house ( has a lid that comes down over it ) Ritchie and Marty was here and he walked over after I got through and omg what did he see!!!!! a huge garter snake maybe 2 1/2 ft long or better. What did he do let it loose under my trailer.  Knowing I am totally petrified of them no matter what kind of snake as I do not know safe ones from dangerous ones. And this stems from being a child on a farm in WV. Mom had 2 pet black snakes in the house garden. When we would pick from it they would wind up your legs....creepy.... then I got chased by a snake after I collected the bucket of eggs. Let me tell you I knew better than to drop that bucket. so I ran screaming for mom and I ran up the ladder she had out cleaning windows with. She came out and shot it.  and then there was the time I got chased by a skunk for the exact same reason....again up the ladder screaming for all I was worth. She came running with the gun, ending up laughing to hard to shoot it. as our 2 dogs, rusty and mugsy had it between them pulling at it. yep you guessed it!! IT SPRAYED MOM AND BOTH THE DOGS!!!! and never got killed. the dogs went down the dirt road with it. don't know which smelt the worse her or the dogs.

Growing up my life was so different than kids now days. There was no video games, computers or modern  things kids in the last 30 yrs have to entertain themselves with. I learned to do chores at a early age, learned how to cook, can and sew.Entertain myself when I had time for me to play.  Never sat down often that my hands were not doing something that was chore related,,,,whether it was snapping beans, shelling peas or shucking corn. From going berry picking etc. We had a black and white tv and could only get 2 channels. one of them we received got the wonderful world of disney, ozzy and harriet, ricky nelson and the Lawrence welk show and it the day time you could get dark shadows, general hospital. and we thought it was the best thing ever. not that we got to watch much tv. I remember when Kennedy was shot, we were watching the parade and I am dating myself but I was really young. Not that I feel old now.  The main thing I have retained other than the canning etc is I can not sit down to often that my hands are not busy doing something. regardless of what it is. I am thankful that mom instilled this work ethnics in me. she saw that I had the training to be a seamstress so that should I need it to fall back on I would have it. She was a big believer in that. I started making my clothes around 10 and still do at times. As I got older I did massively lot of babysitting, and doing peoples yards to earn extra money to help get my school clothes and what ever else I wanted. now days it is hard to even get some kids to pick up a after school job again they are to entertained and most  parents don't think to instill good work ethnics in the kids.

enough rambling got to run things to do
Does anyone remember lightning bugs? It is not something that you see when in the city....it is just so amazing to see them along with butterflies.

Yesterday afternoon I had a sparrow fly through the house. I had a window part way open that needs a screen in it. It zoomed right past me and should have seen me shooing it out of the house.

We are hitting 92 here today so I will not be doing much moving around with it. Plus with the migraines of recent days my tmj has kicked in. I have not had to deal with it for a little while. I hate the pain that comes with it to.

I will most likely work on the paper piecing hearts I am doing for a border with the quit I am enlarging to fit my bed.  I know it is way to hot right now to be doing bed throws. I have always been a quilt person. My first quilt was the one mom did for me when I was 5 yrs old. Yep still got it as worn as it is. I will be getting some of the vacuum bags to put stuff in to reduce storage for me.

here are some pics of my babies.

This is Birdie, Meeka, and Monkey in the back.

Miss Daisy Mae, noone will let her sit with them.

Sacha, my congo plucker.

you see the recliner and sofa covered. that is out of self preservation. To keep them from chewing it and to keep the mess off of them

They are doing so well that I am amazed. It took them a bit to settle down after the long move we did and the moving around. I started at my brother's then went over to sister in laws trailer with her daughter and friend. I did not get moved in here until around Christmas. So finally we get in our own place and the final move for them and they seem to like it here. Course there are days I tell them I am making them a birdie muzzle. lol They see the horses, chickens, wild bunnies and turkeys and they think they have to sound the alarm there are intruders. Keep telling them they are being silly they can not get in and hurt them that they are not going away as they live here to. They belong to the landlord. All except the wild bunnies. They are all over my yard as I have lots of clover in it. I get a ton of outside birds in and around the trailer as they hear my parrots.

here is pic of the little sparrow I fed and released.

It still comes on daily basis to see what is going on here. It will come up on the window screens to look in at us. I suppose that it will stay around the trailer. I have hummingbird feeder out, but think they are being to busy with other stuff at the moment to notice it.

off for me

If you are wondering why you are getting link to a new blog. Simple answer is I could not access my old one for unknown reasons. So I did a new blog. There are times that I want to ramble on and I choose not to put it on facebook where people who do not really know me can see what I am going through with all the changes. If you are reading my blog would you please click the follow button so I know who is following on it.

Let's face it, sometimes life is not fair, and you get angry about what you are handed and you search for the whys. You think to yourself "what did I do to piss someone above off". You do not see until much later and then you have this light bulb go off in your head and you know why. You may not be happy about it but you deal with it. Life is one big gamble, uncertain paths to be chosen right or wrong, left or right or top to bottom it must be chosen.

Sometimes you are handed a life with alot of strife, hardships that must be climbed over and sanity to be held on tight through it. God does have a plan blueprint of your life and he knows what he has set that you don't see at the time.

This is the 3rd day of migraines. What people do not know is they are hereditary. Sometimes they can be triggered with stress in life and other times not. Smells sometimes play a part in them for certain people. Well I am one of those that smells can trigger them. I am allergic to honeysuckle. Yep and guess what is all behind my trailer. You got it !!!!!! Tons of honeysuckle! We have been busy trying to kill it off.  But in the meantime I just have to deal with it.

You would think that the heat would be less than in Florida....but not so we are to hit 92 degrees here today. I hear people out doing their outside chores or whatever they are doing this morning early.

Which is my sign to get off here and get the few things I need to do done.

Have a good day.

I have found out that living in the country that work never ends unless you are going to bed.

I have gardens to weed, flowers to see to, flower beds to still clean. It is a cool day here today...thank goodness....we have had some really hot ones up in the 90's and you really do not want to be moving around outside in it. Finished planting my gladiolus bulbs yesterday along with the peonies I had bought at the end of the trailer.

Yesterday I released a little nelson long tail sparrow that I had been feeding as it had lost its mom. And the silly thing does not know that it is a wild bird. It is hanging around outside at different times of the day to see what is going on and to call to me. I go out and shoo it off but it keeps coming back.

You know and maybe some of you already know this~~~~that rose bushes and blackberry bushes jump out to nail you with their thorns. No lie I get close to them and they nail me. And not just me but my brother also.

I have to laugh. He is not an animal person but he has a very spoilt  cat named Spooky.

This is Spooky in the bathroom sink. I will have to upload pics to my computer as for Easter they dyed her with food coloring to look like a giant moving easter egg....was so cute. Course my sister in law did it in the bathroom and then she told me what a mess she had to clean off the walls and all. And my comment to her was ~~~ why not do it in the shower!

When he comes over it is very seldom he comes in as he is not a bird person and he can not handle them screaming because they know someone is here and they can not see who it is. They have to wait until all my work is done before they can get out in the front of the house. God forbid that you leave them unattended. They think their main goal in life is to remodel their environment around them. They have their own room which is nice I can put them to bed and close the door and I can still be able to do other stuff. Let's get real here I sleep very badly and that has not changed at all. So I may or may not go to bed early. And I have not adjusted to what Ritchie calls country hours. He thinks I am wasting part of the day~~~I may be but again I have never been a morning person in my life, and on nights I can not sleep if I do get to sleep I sleep a little later. Birdie has always been my alarm clock and I think he has his times mixed up. Because of sounding the alarm at 7 am he is now waiting to 8 or 8:30 to sound it.

The parrots are still adjusting to country life....they see horses, cats, chickens, dogs, and outside birds. They think it is their job to sound the alarm that there is intruders outside. I keep telling them I am going to invent a birdie muzzle for them that the stuff outside is suppose to be there.

I love this trailer (sort of lol it still has some work to be done on the inside) because in the front of the house in the living room I have windows on each side and windows on the end of it. They let in alot of light. Also lot of windows throughout the trailer lets in tons of light. Anyone who battles with depression or any type of mental illness can tell you that the less light you have the more and worse the depression phase hits you. The more light helps combat it. Plus it makes it nice to be able to sew and quilt with it. Also in the living room not only the windows let in lot of light but my front door also. It is an antique door that has the skeleton key to it, it has 15 individual panes of glass ( which is a pain to clean too!!!)

I guess I need to go as I have stuff to do!

Here I go again starting a new blog as I can not access my other one I guess with all the change overs.

I have had a lot of changes this past 15 months. I lost my beautiful daughter, had issues with the son in law, miss my grand babies. Lost friends, gained new ones. New extended family reconnecting with family have been out of touch with.

Major move from Florida to Illinois. You may wonder why there and the answer is very simple. I moved here to be close to my brother and have family for support system (not financial but emotional).

Learning to live in the country which I have not done really since moving to Florida at the age of 9. Living on my own in my own place. I and my 5 parrots are thriving and doing well with the adjustment. I have no one to answer to but myself. Which is nice, no one to yell about something that was not done to satisfy them. Or being in a relationship that is controlling and mental and emotional abuse. It will take me awhile to recover from it and regain my self confidence and my independence which I have not had for a long time.
I have a garden that have not had for long time. One that I can do and plant and take care of. I have flower beds that I am slowly working on that had been let go. Of course where I live has been vacant for 3 yrs. So that is to be expected. I have blackberry bushes, apples, plums and lord only know planted here.

Mother's day was very hard for me. First one without my Lissa. Here is the card she made me 2 yrs ago and I plan on putting in a frame. She wrote it for me.

Sometimes

Everyone wonders about things sometimes.

Things like why do we color between the lines?

What makes the sky turn so pretty blue?

How does the moon know which way to go?

How does the river know which way to flow?

Why can't all clovers have four leaves?

Why do angels only get wings if someone believes?

Sometimes my mind wanders around in my head...

Thinking of a million things I have never said.

And I wonder if I have told you ....

How much I love you to.

Sometimes you only get a "love you too"

Echoed quickly when you say you do.

It may appear I'm just going through a motion,

Like a tired and worn out emotion.

Sometimes I just forget how to say:

That you are with me in my heart on every day.

Happy Mother's Day!!

I know sometimes life gets hectic and crazy and you may feel like I don't care about you at all but even past all the crazy stuff going on I think of you and worry about you. My life is so complicated that I feel like someone somewhere is always being left behind and it can be hard to juggle. So even if I don't say it or show it very well I hope you know how much I love you ~~
Melissa

I will never get to hold her, tell her how much I love her, or how proud I am of her. What a good mother she is/was.How much I am amazed that she was a strong young woman, she was so loving with her babies, and she was involved with the 3 that were special needs, she got them the care they needed or she would fight to get it for them.

It was also a reflection of thinking of my mother who was not here. And if you believe in angels. I know that and hope that they are together where ever they are.

I am going on a diet/really a change in what I am eating and add walking to my day. I have weight to lose and I am determined to get rid of it. Not just for health reasons but because I want to have it gone. I have a good few pounds (not telling exactly how many)

I have a quilt on the machine that I am doing border blocks for a row to help enlarge it for my bed. I have been taking in sewing for people which helps supplement my income and give me extra for what I need to get that is not attainable otherwise. I have a budget and one that is workable for me.

The amazing thing is that not only I am doing better with the bipolar (still have episodes) but with my neuralgia also. I have a new medication for the pain that was constant in my jaw from the tmj that is controlling it also. Nothing of course is helping with the herniated disc in my neck. That I will have to live with as I do not want surgery on it.

This coming month I am going with my sister in law, niece and her best friend and another of their friends to Holiday World. Sounds like a fun day and I need that.

My brother who I do not talk about much is a blessing and I know he loves me. He is very supportive of me emotionally which is something that for years I did not have. I love him so much....and he is there for me. I am blessed that he has a truck he is not using that he has let me have to drive and get around with as I do not have a car. He and my sister in law live one street over. I live in a small rural town of 200 people if lucky on head count. My landlord has horses, cow, chickens and turkeys. The padlock to the side and front of me has horses in it. I do not ride or ever been on a horse. But I do pass out nose pets and apples. She has a small pony that really looks like a donkey....which will not answer to me when passing out apples because I kept calling him a jackass.....I guess he took offence to it. poor thing....it is quiet here.

The hardest thing I think I have had to adjust to is no one takes the keys out of their cars and trucks. even in the small towns but in the main big ones they do. The other thing is they do not lock their DOORS!!!! I am so thrilled I can leave my windows open day and nite. My door unlocked during the day without worrying that someone is not going to come in and harm you.

I guess this has been enough rambling on for now.
